Expressions of Interest are now open for the Reefwise Farming Program, offering 40 eligible horticultural and sugarcane growers in the Lower Mary, Burnett, Burrum and Kolan catchments the opportunity to access up to $50,000 towards precision irrigation upgrades.
The Australian Government-funded Reefwise Farming Program supports practical on-farm upgrades that help growers increase irrigation efficiency and production outcomes.
Successful applicants will receive a specialist on-farm irrigation assessment, a personalised farm map and technical report, and up to $50,000 (50% co- contribution) towards eligible irrigation upgrades. Participants can also receive revegetation of waterways or buffer zones, a tailored Natural Capital report, and the opportunity to become one of the program's demonstration farms.
Funding is available for upgrades such as automated irrigation scheduling, sensors, remote monitoring technology, irrigation infrastructure upgrades and fertigation. New irrigation developments, standard operational upgrades, hydroponic systems and earthworks are not eligible.
