Unearthing Soil Function: Sharing Knowledge with Regional Producers

Newsroom 1 min read , October 23, 2026

Last week we had the privilege of a visit from international educator on soil health, Joel Williams, Integrated Soils and Grant Sims from Downunder Ag to deliver golden nuggets of wisdom and advice to our regional producers as part of the Unearthing Soil Function field days.

BMRG would like to give a huge thank you to Grant and Joel for sharing their inspiration and learnings on soil function with our landholders. Also thank you to our collaborators, @South Burnett Grazing Network, Cameron Leckie from the University of Southern Queensland Innovation Hub, and Brenton Wenham from Carbonlink and our host demonstration farms; Catriona and Russell Murdoch from Holroyd and Michael and Lorraine Langley from Rhodes Farm.

These field days cannot happen without a team of people behind the scenes organising logistics and catering, so a shout out to our amazing staff members at BMRG - Virginia Kelleher, Leesa Kelly and Laura Davies, the Kumbia Hall volunteers, Coulston Lakes Homegrown for morning tea and Barambah Creek Beef for the locally produced smoked beef for lunch.

Both field days were supported by the Australian Government through funding from the Natural Heritage Trust under the Climate-Smart Agriculture Program and delivered by BMRG, a member of the Commonwealth Regional Delivery Partners panel.
