On the 28th October 2025, the Burnett Mary Regional Group (BMRG) project officers organised a Grazing Resilience and Sustainable Solutions (GRASS) workshop at the Eidsvold Community Hall. BMRG project officers presented a range of topics including Grazing Reef Protection Regulations, soil health, FORAGE reports, mapping tools, and methods to assess land condition. Megan Gurnett from the Department of Primary Industries presented on services available to landholders in the Burnett-Mary region such as the Farm Business Resilience Plan.
In the days following the workshop BMRG’s project officers conducted property visits with landholders that attended the workshop to assess their areas of poor and degraded land condition. From the assessments project officers will write Action Plans for Land Management (APLMs) which detail actions to improve degraded areas, while also assisting with compliance with the grazing Reef Regulations.
The GRASS program is funded through the Queensland Government’s Queensland Reef Water Quality Program and delivered by the Department of Agriculture and Fisheries, and BMRG.
