
Queensland’s primary producers have a renewed opportunity to strengthen on-farm resilience, with QRIDA Drought Preparedness Grants now available again.
Delivered by the Queensland Rural and Industry Development Authority (QRIDA) on behalf of the Department of Primary Industries, the program offers co-contribution grants of up to $50,000 to support permanent infrastructure that improves a property’s ability to prepare for, respond to and recover from drought .
What’s Available?
Eligible primary producers can apply for up to 25% of the cost of purchasing, upgrading or installing permanent capital infrastructure, with a maximum cumulative grant of $50,000 .
Funded projects may include:
- Water infrastructure such as pipes, tanks, troughs, dams and bores
- Water conservation and pumping systems
- Feed storage, grain storage and feeding infrastructure
- Equipment that strengthens drought feeding capacity
- Associated freight, contractor and eligible implementation costs
Importantly, projects must be identified within an approved Farm Business Resilience Plan, reinforcing the program’s focus on preparedness, planning and measurable long-term impact .

With $20 million allocated over four financial years, this initiative represents a strategic investment in Queensland’s agricultural sustainability .

To be eligible, applicants must:
- Meet the definition of a primary producer
- Demonstrate capacity to fund the remaining project contribution
- Hold necessary regulatory approvals
- Present a Farm Business Resilience Plan satisfactory to QRIDA
Projects must not have commenced prior to approval (with limited provisions for deposits) .
