As part of our ongoing commitment to restoring the riverbanks of the Burnett region, we’re excited to report significant progress in the Landscape Repair Program. Seven weeks into the civil construction phase, steep cliffs are being transformed into gentle slopes, allowing safer access to the water.
Key progress highlights
- Earthworks and piling: Over the next weeks, earth shaping will continue, followed by piling and rock armouring in week nine to enhance the bank’s resilience and stability.
- Biodiversity focus: Tree rootballs will be installed to support water flow dynamics and create habitats, fostering local biodiversity.
- Revegetation preparations: Irrigation and coir matting will soon be laid in anticipation of new greenery, transforming the site into a vibrant riverside space.
A collaborative and respectful approach
Throughout this project, we honour Traditional Owner Knowledge, ensuring that cultural and natural heritage guide our actions. Our partnerships with local landholders and community stakeholders are vital to this success.
Looking ahead
On track for completion by year’s end, this initiative is paving the way for a healthier, more accessible natural environment. It exemplifies our vision of a region where environment, economy, and culture thrive together.
