M-Nut transforms their 514-hectare Norbrook Farm through BMRG's Climate Smart Catchments program. This exciting film shows how they boost nutrient management and climate resilience.

This film reveals how M-Nut exemplifies sustainable farming best practice. As a result, their Norbrook Farm shows what's possible when agriculture meets environmental care.

Located on 514 hectares along the Kolan River, Norbrook Farm proves that farms can thrive while protecting nature. Here's what they've achieved:

  • Multi-Species Innovation: M-Nut plants eight to nine species between macadamia rows. Therefore, they build soil carbon and improve fertility. Additionally, this approach prevents erosion.
  • Biodiversity Integration: Native pollinator habitats now support the farm. Consequently, M-Nut relies less on European honey bees. This helps manage pests naturally.
  • Reef Protection: Better ground cover protects water quality. These practices directly help the Great Barrier Reef. They also reduce emissions and fight climate change.
  • Revenue Diversification: Environmental markets can create new income. Farmers have the ability to earn beyond traditional means, while they adopt conservation techniques.

John from M-Nut explains their vision simply: "You're creating a massive photosynthetic engine. It sucks carbon from the atmosphere. Then it puts roots into the soil. Finally, it provides food and habitat for biodiversity. That's a good day's work."

The Climate Smart Catchments program welcomes ALL farmers. In fact, any primary producer in the Burnett Mary region can join.
