The Recovery and Resilience of the Bulberin Nut (Macadamia jansenii) Project reached an important milestone with the delivery of its wrap-up workshop on 20 November, bringing together project consortium members to reflect on project outcomes and plan future conservation actions.
The workshop reviewed key successes and challenges in delivering the two-year project, including on-ground works, monitoring, and collaboration, and captured important lessons to inform future conservation efforts.
A strong focus was placed on next steps for the conservation of Macadamia jansenii. Future activities discussed included undertaking a population census to improve understanding of species distribution and abundance, progressing propagation efforts, and strengthen ex situ plantings to support long-term species resilience and safeguard against ongoing threats.
The workshop marked the conclusion of the current project phase and set a clear direction for continued, coordinated conservation actions to support the recovery of this critically endangered species.
This project was supported by funding from the Australian Government’s Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water (DCCEEW) through the Saving Native Species Program.
