Newsroom 1 min read , October 2, 2025

Applications now open, closing 31 October 2025

The Queensland Government is supporting invasive species management through the Queensland Feral Pest Initiative Exclusion Fencing Grants Scheme with a current grant available for exclusion fencing, only applicable for wild dog management. Livestock predation from wild dogs is a significant challenge for rural communities with negative economic, operational, and social impacts on primary producers. The objective of the Scheme is to provide financial assistance to eligible landholders for projects to construct exclusion fencing in rural and remote areas with a documented history of wild dog predation impacting livestock production.

Each grant can be up to $5,000 per km, up to a maximum of 50 kms ($250,000) available for successful applicants. Funding must be matched by a minimum 50% co-contribution from applicants.

Eligible LGAs under the scheme include Gympie, North Burnett and South Burnett regions. Please note this is a competitive grant including eligible areas state wide. Information is available on the Department of Primary Industries website and applications are to be submitted via QRIDA primary producer portals (only available to eligible primary producers)
