Have Your Say on Queensland’s Draft Feral Pig Management Action Plan 2026–2031

Newsroom 1 min read , February 26, 2026

Feral pigs continue to place significant pressure on Queensland’s landscapes, waterways and primary industries. Their impacts are felt across the Burnett Mary region — from crop and pasture losses to erosion, water quality decline, and damage to culturally significant sites.

The Queensland Government is now seeking feedback on the Draft Feral Pig Management Action Plan 2026-2031. BMRG are encouraging all landholders and industry impacted by feral pigs to take part in the online survey. Additionally you are being invited to provide a written response to the draft document. The deadline is 5 pm, Thursday 12 March 2026.

Why Your Input Matters

The draft Plan sets a statewide framework for coordinated, long-term feral pig management. It aligns with the National Feral Pig Action Plan while recognising the need for locally led solutions that reflect regional conditions, industry priorities and community knowledge.

For our region, effective feral pig control is not just about reducing numbers — it’s about measurable outcomes:

  • Protecting agricultural productivity
  • Safeguarding waterways and reef catchments
  • Strengthening biosecurity resilience
  • Supporting culturally respectful land stewardship

Local insight is essential to ensuring the Plan is practical, targeted and grounded in on-ground realities. Your experience managing feral pigs — including what works, what doesn’t, and where support is most needed — will help shape future investment and coordination.

A Collaborative, Community-Led Approach

At BMRG, we know that durable outcomes are achieved when landholders, Traditional Owners, industry, and government work together. Regional action plans are strengthened by shared knowledge and collective accountability.

This consultation is an opportunity to ensure that the final Plan reflects:

  • The scale and cost of feral pig impacts in our region
  • The importance of coordinated, cross-tenure management
  • The integration of Traditional Ecological Knowledge alongside contemporary control methods
  • Strategic investment that delivers measurable environmental and economic returns

Complete the Survey

The online survey takes approximately 10–15 minutes to complete.

Consultation closes: 5pm, Thursday 12 March 2026

We encourage all landholders and stakeholders to review the draft and provide feedback here.
