BMRG is proud to support Beneath the Surface & Beyond, a one-day field day made possible by RSC and Carbon Link, hosted by the Burnham family at Bonnie Doone, Monto, on Thursday, 9 July 2026.
This immersive, community-led event invites producers, landholders and industry partners to explore what it means to build resilient farming systems from the ground up. Through paddock walks, producer stories, practical demonstrations and shared conversation, attendees will look beneath the surface of soil, pasture and grazing systems to better understand the connections that support long-term productivity, profitability and landscape health.
The day will bring together local experience and regional expertise, with contributions from the Burnham family, CarbonLink, RCS and BMRG. Matt Taylor from BMRG will present on the Inland Burnett Program and environmental market opportunities for the agricultural sector, sharing how the initiative is supporting landholders to strengthen landscape resilience, improve decision-making and drive measurable outcomes across the region.
Unlike a traditional field day, Beneath the Surface & Beyond is designed around connection. Participants will walk the country, explore soil, pasture, animals and food systems in place, and take part in informal discussions over lunch and in small groups. The event will conclude with a farmer circle, creating space for practical questions, shared insights and reflection on what is possible for farming systems across the Inland Burnett.
Attendees will also enjoy a thoughtfully curated culinary experience, with food inspired by the land itself. The menu will feature local, seasonal and whole foods sourced locally, including smoked meats from Bonnie Doone.
At its heart, this event is about building change through relationships, renewed perspective and practical learning. It is an opportunity to connect with people, place and possibility, while exploring how data-led land management, ecological resilience and strong communities can work together to shape a more sustainable future.
